The enterprise has 1,100m² of built area and is characterized by being a permanent structure. In the future it will be possible to expand horizontally and vertically one more floor. To support the current demand, BC19-Fiocruz will be able to store approximately 1.5 million samples in adequate temperature, humidity and pressure conditions.

Aiming to achieve maximum efficiency in the development of its activities, operation, and maintenance, the building was built based on three principles valued by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation: sustainability, accessibility, and user comfort. From these purposes, BC19-Fiocruz has:
Stabilized power supply with redundancy.
Autonomy of water supply for 48 hours in situations of supply interruption by the concessionaire.
Effluent decontamination system with Sewage Treatment Plant
Central of various gases, with special attention to the supply of liquid nitrogen for cryopreservation equipment.
Automated monitoring system (control and supervision) of the collections maintenance.
Automation serving infrastructure process organization with asset management.
Remote monitoring and operation of the various systems, using IOT, Industry 4.0 and Big Data technologies.
Fire and panic prevention and combat system.
Access control of external and restricted internal areas.
Closed circuit television (CCTV).
